EBMUD, Oakland, California

BEI provided operation and maintenance of an acid mine drainage treatment system including all treatment system monitoring and reporting. BEI conducted pilot tests to improve the performance of the system in removing dissolved metals and to reduce costs. The system consists of a groundwater seepage collection pond, two 250 gpm submersible pumps, lime storage tank, in-line lime addition and mixing and a clarifier.

Property Owner, City of San Jose, California

BEI provided planning, design, and construction assistance for a 5 gpm pump and treat system at an industrial site in San Jose, California. The groundwater was contaminated with 1,1,1-trichloroethane that leaked from an underground storage tank. BEI personnel designed a two stage air stripper system with vapor phase carbon treatment on each stage with a water phase carbon polish prior to discharge. The groundwater collection system has wells in three different aquifers. The treatment system has an equalization/treatment tank to equalize the concentration of the solvent prior to the air stripper since there is a four order of magnitude difference in the solvent concentration between wells. BEI provides operation and maintenance of the groundwater system including all treatment system monitoring and reporting.

I-205 Corridor Storm Drainage Pump Stations

BEI provided planning, design, and construction assistance for a 20 cfs pump station and 11,500 feet of 18-inch discharge pipeline. Planning included an economic evaluation of pipe size versus pumping head to select the most economical pump and pipeline combination. The pump station includes three 77 HP pumps, wet well, intake structure, trash rack, and discharge valve vault. Control is provided by a reactive air system with float switches for backup. Operation is remotely monitored and controlled from the City of Tracy water treatment plant using a microwave radio system.

Prunetree Shopping Center, Monterey County, California

BEI is responsible for the contract operation and maintenance of the Prunetree Shopping Center water system. This shopping center in Prunedale, CA has two wells for water supply plus two 50,000 gal storage reservoirs. The water does not require disinfection. BEI is responsible for the operation of the water system, certifying the backflow prevention valves, monitoring and reporting of the water quality to the Department of Public Health and preparation of the Annual Small Water Systems Report and Consumer Confidence Report.

Anzar High School, San Benito County, California

Under contract to the School District, BEI provides complete operation and maintenance services for the Anzar High School water treatment and distribution system. The water supply is from two wells. BEI is responsible for disinfection of the water supply, and monitoring and reporting of the water quality.

Hollister Ranch Estates Subdivision, San Benito County, California

Under contract to the Water Company (owned by the water users of the subdivision), BEI provides complete operation and maintenance services for the Hollister Ranch Mutual Water Company water treatment and distribution system. The water supply is from two wells. BEI is responsible for disinfection of the water supply, and monitoring and reporting of the water quality.

Union Heights Mutual Water Company, San Benito County, California

Under contract to the Water Company (owned by the water users of the subdivision), BEI provides complete operation and maintenance services for the Union Heights Mutual Water Company water treatment and distribution system. The water supply is from one well. BEI is responsible for disinfection of the water supply, and monitoring and reporting of the water quality.

Dunneville Estates Subdivision, San Benito County, California

Under contract to San Benito County, BEI provides complete operation and maintenance services for the Dunneville water treatment and distribution system. The water supply is from two wells. The treatment system removes manganese using greensand filters. BEI is responsible for the removal of manganese, disinfection of the water supply, and monitoring and reporting of the water quality.

La Honda Pescadero Unified School District, California

BEI provided engineering design for a transmission pipeline to provide potable water to the La Honda Elementary School in La Honda , California. The transmission pipeline consisted of flow metering, a backflow prevention device, a booster pump station, and over 3,000 feet of 4-inch pipeline. The design also included a jack and bore under Highway 84. The control system was designed to maintain 60 pounds per square inch water pressure at the school.

Cuesta La Honda, California

BEI provided engineering design for a surface water treatment system to provide high quality water for potable use in an area with a creek and spring water supply. The treatment system consisted of a membrane filter system followed by chlorination. The control system was designed to provide control screens on a desk top computer to allow data logging of the important parameters and easy downloading of the data to reports for submittal to the Department of Health Services. The project also included sizing and design of a 250,000 gallon reservoir and permitting.
